2022 witnessed the retirement of some of the world's most famous football stars, as they said goodbye to the stadiums after a career full of success and achievements, during which they won many titles and trophies, whether with their clubs or the teams, but ultimately during the trip they chose to stop playing and bid farewell to the green rectangle for a variety of reasons, including injuries and old age.
Among the ten most famous players to retire in 2022, we find the Spanish Gerard Pique, the Barcelona player, who bid farewell to the stadiums in tears during his team's match with Almeria in the Spanish league last November.
After reaching the age of 35, the Barcelona defender decided to stop playing, although his contract is extended until 2024, as he ended his football career after winning 35 titles and winning all possible championships including 30 titles with Barcelona, most notably the 2009 Hexagonal, with 3 titles with Manchester United. In addition to two titles with the Spain national team, including the European Champions League title, the first at the 2010 World Cup, and the second at Euro 2012.

The fourth star is Argentina's Gonzalo Higuain, 34, who was a Real Madrid player for six years. He also played for Napoli, Juventus and Milan in Italy and Chelsea in England.

The list of top ten retired players also includes 35-year-old Nigerian Mikel John Obi, whose most notable stint was with England's Chelsea and led the Nigerian national team in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and won the title. At the Age of 36, finished his international career with 51 caps.
