Argentine newspaper El Financiero reported that the country's central bank held a meeting to celebrate the FIFA World Cup win.

In the meeting, the topic of printing Messi's photo on the notes to commemorate the World Cup victory was discussed.

However, according to reports, the members "jokingly" mentioned Messi adorning the notes.

The newspaper reported that some members of the meeting agreed to pay tribute to coach Lionel Scaloni for the victory, as under his leadership Argentina won the Copa America 2021, the Finalisssima and the World Cup.

Due to this news, edited pictures of Messi on the 1000 peso currency note started circulating on the internet.

The central bank introduced the coins to mark Argentina's first World Cup win in 1978, so it is likely that the authorities will decide to celebrate Qatar's World Cup win as well.


Victory in the World Cup

Argentina won the trophy by defeating defending champions France in the final. Messi scored two goals and Angel Di Maria one, while challenging Kylian Mbappe's hat-trick.

At the end of extra time the scoreboard showed the score 3-3, the game went to penalties where Martinez showed his skills and led Argentina to victory.
